San Vito Lo Capo

San Vito Lo Capo is one of those places that is an absolute must-see if you're exploring Sicily.

If you can, make the effort to go. You won’t be disappointed.

Head to the beach early in the morning or as the sun begins to set. The light softens, the cliffs glow, and the landscape breathtaking, and so peaceful.

Perfect for quiet reflection and unforgettable photos.

My favourites:

Hire a bike!

Starting at 5 Euro for an hour for a standard pedal bike, grab a bike in the early evening and take a relaxing ride.

Take a coastal boat trip

A great day with a departure around 10am and arriving back around 4pm, look for a trip that has lunch included.

Cruise along the coastline and hear fascinating stories, swim in the bluest sea, and stop for another dip and the on boat lunch at Scopello.

Pizza!

I had the best pizza in San Vito - the Napoli con Salame - Tomato's, anchovies, mozzarella and salami.  So good, I had it twice!

Couscous

is synonymous with San Vito, be sure to try it, or head there for the CousCous festival Cous Cous Fest | Festival of Cultural Integration

San Vito Lo Capo surprised me—it’s more affordable than you’d expect for such a popular destination.

  • Eating out is budget-friendly, yet the flavours are divine and the quality consistently top-notch.
  • There are a couple of supermarkets in town, perfect for grabbing essentials or ingredients if you’re cooking in.
  • The main street is lively, lined with restaurants, tourist shops and boutiques alike.
  • In the evening, pop into a bar and listen to live music.  Head to the "Drinkeria" cocktail bar (@drinkeria2.0) for live music, go early to grab a table.
  • And here’s a tip: San Vito hosts festivals nearly every month of the year. If you can time your visit with one of these celebrations, you’ll be treated to something truly special—music, food, culture. This is a sample of things on during 2025
  • If you’ve got a car, head to Macari Beach—just a short drive from San Vito Lo Capo. The water is crystal clear, the cliff formations and scenery needs to be seen to be believed.

Getting there:

* San Vito is located in the north west of Sicily, about an hour and a half from Palermo, one hour from Trapani (both times are by car).

* Buses go from both Palermo and Trapani, but organise ahead and book your ticket if you can as the daily schedule can be limited.
